WHET is a statewide organization dedicated to advancing the leadership and professional development of women across Tennessee’s colleges and universities. Whether working in faculty, staff, or administrative roles, WHET provides a community of support, mentorship, and opportunity for women at every stage of their career in higher education.
Founded in 1980, WHET has served as a connector and champion—offering annual conferences, networking events, scholarships, and leadership programming that inspire women to not only rise, but to bring others with them.We believe that representation, collaboration, and intentional development are essential to creating equitable and thriving institutions—and we work every day to make that a reality for women in our field.
At WHET our mission is to provide meaningful opportunities for women in higher education to cultivate their personal and professional potential.
Through dynamic programming, leadership development, and statewide collaboration, we create a space where women are encouraged, supported, and equipped to lead with confidence.
WHET will be recognized as Tennessee’s premier professional organization for women in higher education—one that empowers professionals, advocates for growth, champions career advancement, and fosters strong community partnerships.
We are building more than a network. We are creating a path of continuity that leads to sustained growth, achievement, and generational impact for women in academia and beyond.
Every connection, every conversation, and every event strengthens our ability to empower women across the state. Whether you’re seeking mentorship, community, or leadership growth, there’s a place for you at WHET.
